Natural Forests

Natural forests are unique by global location, soil, fauna, wildlife and bio-diversity. They cannot be replanted easily, and many failed attempts have seen well meaning operations fail. Re-forestation takes skill and professional expertise usually gathered by experts in their field with many years of experience in that area.

Forests are also like a garden and can overgrow and choke. They need stewardship and constant maintenance, and in many cases selected cutting in a sustainable manner. Vines can easily choke a forest and restrict the forest ability to grow and let in sunlight. Therefore selective cutting can be done in a sustainable way and even improve the forests performance and ability to store carbon.

The gathering of wood for fuel is a requirement of our times, and the forest inhabitants as commerce, needs timber for building homes and fuel for heating and cooking. The key is expert management and care, to be in balance with nature and the unique bio-diversity of the forest area. The CAA will continue in its programs with Government in these key areas.
